Thinking Again at TEDGlobal 2013

Once again, CN partnered with TEDGlobal to "bring together those who venture to change our perspective, who ask different questions, illuminate old problems with a new light in order to find better answers, cope with ambiguity, detect the weak signals pointing to a different future, and challenge us to pause for an instant, and Think Again." Check out the pics and links below to get an feel for the "Ideas Worth Spreading" in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Supporting TEDxSMU in Dallas

In December, CN supported TEDxKids and TEDxSMU in sunny Dallas, TX. It was great weekend as lots of speakers who have been on the main TED stage came to Dallas to spread their ideas centered on this year's tagline: "re:THiNK." On Friday November 30, over 500 middle school kids had the opportunity to attend a 1/2 day TEDx event, listen to talks tailored for their age group, and experience all of the sponsor exhibits.

Beckon Lovely CN Style

I feel oh-so-lucky to have been part of a small team of graphic facilitators that my company (Collective Next) sent to Dallas to scribe the talks at TEDxSMU. Not that I expected anything less, but it was a truly transformative experience. I mean, where else but at a TED or TEDx event could you witness a tiny 7th grader shock the stage with a booming poetry slam performance and then hear a talk about wabi-sabi (the Japanese term for imperfect beauty)?

Building for Day 2

We started the day by asking everyone to describe what their trusted sources are for information and advice about their health. We got quite a lot of responses both on Facebook and in person, and on the wall of our project space. Not surprisingly the range included things like family, friends, Google, web sources, and doctors. A little more surprisingly, though, there were several threads that were about people being afraid that their own ability to judge for themselves would be hampered by knowing information from an officially sanctioned source. Interesting.
